Object Detail

Description
A white 3D-printed and painted skull with a round ovum mounted on the front. Two Xenomorph aliens protrude from the skull’s eye sockets, expelling tears of sperm that stream down the face toward the egg. The skull is perched on a found child-sized wooden stool, whose feet have been modified to resemble claws that clutch balls.
Heappey’s work is a meditation on the cycle of life, reproduction and the weird and wonderful human condition. Uniting past and present, his sculpture makes reference to the memento mori tradition of art history, and the extraterrestrial creature designed by Swiss surrealist artist H.R. Giger which became the antagonist of the Alien science fiction horror series in 1979.
