Object Detail

Description
From the Volcanic and Geothermal series.

Castle notes this was "A work developed from my brief to produce work for The World Expo, Seville, Spain in 1992. My brief from James Mack was to make a series of works that summoned up the natural energy of the sea - suggesting the magma bursting forth, then cooling as it flowed into the blue Pacific Ocean."

The stimulus for the lava red bowl came from The Red Crater on Mt Tongariro, Central North Island.
